About Me

Hi! My name is Maxwell, I'm a student at Virginia Tech, and have experience in caring for children during weekends, evenings, and school breaks. When I'm home from school, I move between Crozet, Charlottesville, and Earlysville weekly, so I offer services throughout those regions. I have 8 years of (paid) experience with children and am skilled at creating fun and educational activities while prioritizing your kid's safety and well-being. I typically care for children ages 4 and above but can take care of all ages. I'm adult and pediatric CPR, first aid, and AED certified, so your kids will be nice and safe. I also have certifications in Water Safety, Psychological First Aid, and have been trained for advanced child care. I'm also pet-friendly and have a car that I've made sure is safe and reliable, since I also help with child transportation often. Thank you for your time and consideration!

Maxwell is really organized and great with kids! He came to our hotel to play with our kids for hours and help them sleep while we visited Charlottesville. He did a thorough online pre-meeting and has documentation and surveys and stuff. He brought some toys with him for my kids and even asked ahead of time what theme of temporary tattoos they would prefer. Very reliable.

Max was great with our kids. He can prepared with a copy of his ID and background information and a list of activities he would love to do with the kids. When requested he played our old piano beautifully and my daughter was so impressed. He has kept up to date with us even a couple years later and sends the kids birthday cards.

Maxwell set a new all-time high standard for hiring anyone to watch my kids. He was proactive in asking about them, their routine and our family with an online form, he was on time, prepared and absolutely delightful. My kids loved spending time with him! He even cracked the code for getting our toddler to sleep without multiple wakings. Highly recommend! Will hire again, I hope!!

Maxwell is awesome with my 5&6 year old! He keeps them busy and engaged with fun games (he has many that he just pulls out of the trunk of his car - fun Frisbee, board games, etc). He is very understanding and patient with my super emotional children. He seems to be able to preemptively get in front of meltdowns that I can't seem to do as a parent. Overall they have a ton of fun when he's around and they are happy at the end of the day! We would definitely hire Maxwell again.

We hired Maxwell to watch a 6 yr old girl for several days after school. He was always punctual, prepared with fun activities and crafts, and showed a true interest in her and her preferences. I'm not sure we've ever had a more caring or professional sitter. I would use him again in a heart beat-and my kid loved playing with him as well.

Maxwell has been such an engaged and caring person with our children, especially our youngest two (ages 9 and 10). Our family lives in a residence hall, where Maxwell is a student. Whenever he's with them he always listens closely and follows their interests. And when our children attend events in the building, Maxwell always helps them to feel comfortable. He's flexible and always positive. I especially appreciate how he's worked with our son to make stop-motion videos, and present their work to our whole community! Really, he's become a great family friend - and we're so grateful to have him in the residence hall with us!

Are You CPR/First Aid/AED Certified?

Yes! I have all of those certifications, as well as: Water Safety Ambassador, Orientation to Swim Lessons, Water Safety, Psychological First Aid, Advanced Childcare Training, NTA Certified Tutor, and have other Medical and Professional Skills.

Are you willing to get a background check?

Yes, as long as you are able to pay for the background check, I'm happy to get one.

The Average Cost of a Childcare Provider in VA is $13.59 per hour*. How do you base your prices?

I base my prices off of my years of experience, certifications, history in working for child-related programs/families, knowledge of child development, as well as my references and feedback I've recieved from families. I also base it off of the national average of $22.68 an hour for one child (Data Source).

What is your cancellation policy?

The client can cancel anytime up to 24 hours before the appointment free of charge.
If the client cancels within a 24-13 hour time frame of the appointment start time, a cancellation fee of $25 is charged.
If the client cancels within a 12-4 hour time frame of the appointment start time, a cancellation fee of $36 is charged.
If the client cancels within a 3-0 hour time frame of the appointment start time, a cancellation fee of either $54 OR the scheduled rate is charged, whichever amount is lower.
